This is a general outline for the tutoring schedule August 11-15

August 11


  • Review goals for the week
  • Create a Google account
  • Introduce blogging and creation of blogs for each student
  • Internet safety challenge (identifying false sites)
  • Create first post for blogs

August 12

  • Student viewing of each other's blogs and learning to comment
  • Use digital camera and Google Picassa to organize photos
  • manipulating photos with Photoshop
  • Blog entry with a picture

August 13

  • Student viewing of each other's blogs
  • Create a Powerpoint slideshow, upload to slideshare.net, post to your blog.
  • Use Flip (pocket video device)


August 14

  • Student viewing of each other's blogs
  • Working with sound and audio files
  • Brainstorm idea for video using Google Docs and chat
  • Begin creating video


August 15

  • Work on video
  • Post video and comment on work
  • Wrap up

Hey Al, the syllabus looks great. Jack has wanted to learn more about Photoshop, as well as posting videos on the web. He's saving his allowance for a Flip camera, so he will be happy to hear that he will get to use one during this camp. His allowance is fairly meager - or so he tells me - therefore it will be a while til he has enough saved. I'm looking forward to seeing what the kids create. Enjoy the rest of summer, we will see you in August. I'm off to check out (or rather "be humbled by") that Suduko site you've posted on the blog!

Um, for the record, it took me 5:53 to finish the first puzzle. I welcome some friendly competition if any of the adults or kids are interested. I suspect my time is easy to beat!
